Gaining Productivity Through Achieving The Highest Possible Accuracy
While
the base speech recognition engine is quite good it it provides
tools for us to improve accuracy for your organization.
Again, this leads us back to making sure the user has the best
"out of box" experience ensuring acceptance of the technology.
Customization comes in many forms. For example, PCA will
take data specific to your organization, such as staff names,
and deliver this back as a supplement to the user voice
profiles. We call this PCA SAVE™
Customer Edition and it will show up on our implementation
quotes. Also, we enhance the base medical specialty
vocabularies with our own medical specialty vocabularies that
have been developed over many years of collecting previously
dictated material. We call these PCA SAVE™
Editions and again they will appear on our quotes. Even
after all that is done, still more specific information can be
provided to a specific user's voice profile by analyzing their
own previously dictated reports. As part of training we
will educate either the users or the trainers on how to do this.
Gaining Efficiency Through Dictated Shortcuts
Dictated shortcuts come in two styles. One is dictation
or text shortcuts and the other is command-and-control.
Speech recognition is a wonderful way of issuing dictation
shortcuts for a variety of reasons. First, users don't
have to stop dictating to press keys or click the mouse when
they want to issue the shortcut. Second, because shortcuts
don't rely on mnemonics users can easily remember hundreds of
them. When a medical provider for instance wants their text for a normal review of
systems they will simply say "review of systems normal".
The second kind of shortcut is command and control. Command and control shortcuts are
used throughout many applications to navigate through data fields and text boxes.
These shortcuts can expedite the data entry process by filling
in the necessary information in required fields and then racing
through the prefilled ones. For example, in an EMR suppose a doctor needs to do an office note. With a
command and control shortcut they could say "History and
Physical" and have the system type their base history and
physical text onto the screen. We call our
collection of dictation shortcuts for the medical industry PCA MEDIMACS™
and they appear as a line item in our quotes. All aspects
of our command-and-control shortcuts can be modified down to the
provider level.
